Meet The Owner (That’s Me!)

February 24th, 2012

I’ve heard people like to know about the owner of a restaurant, and only because these people have been twisting my arm I’m coming out of the woodwork to share a little about myself.

I’m Linda, and I’m Owner and Chief Taste Tester at Jack’s Franks & Fries.

I’ve worked in insurance, manufacturing and retail. They were all as boring as they sound.

I have a degree in Industrial Design, which is about the coolest thing I’ve ever done. Ask me about it and I can go on forever about how much you can learn in art school.

Why have a hot dog restaurant? Because [almost] everyone loves hot dogs. They’re a fun and inexpensive meal and they’re customizable. What’re your favorite toppings? I really like brown mustard. And jalapenos. And bacon…]

Who’s Jack?

February 24th, 2012

It all started with my Great Uncle Jack, who emigrated from eastern Europe in the early 20th century. He came to America with nothing and started a men’s clothing factory in New York City. Jack did very well (a sewing contract with the military during the war proved to be a shrewd deal). As a young man my dad went to work for his uncle and learned a lot about how to run a business. Jack helped fund my dad’s business venture, and in turn, my dad has helped me start my own restaurant. We thought it fitting to honor the man who got the ball rolling. Thank you Uncle Jack!
